Style Chat: Wedding Style and Design on a Budget

wedding design on a budget

I’ve long been a fan of infographics. When on Pinterest I collect them into their own little board so I can digest them at a later date.

Of course it does depend on the topic but when I saw this one from Evolution Money I was keen to share. Why, you ask! Well in just over a month I will celebrate my 10th Wedding anniversary. In fact I’ll be at Britmums Live! listening to the BiB Awards (and maybe even celebrating there too!) on the very day but it has made me think about our wedding and what we set out to achieve in terms of style and how much that cost.

At the time we didn’t have a massive budget but it was healthy enough. Still weddings do cost a lot of money and we had to save on certain items to be able to have others. I decorated the room in pink roses, simply displayed alone in a vase. The florist hadn’t done anything like that before but was very creative. Keeping it modern and minimal did keep the price down and so I used the same approach in other areas.

As the Infographic suggests, keep costs down by having just one venue for the ceremony and celebration. We did just that. No need for wedding transportation from the church to the venue, we just walked across a courtyard in the sunshine, a glass of bubby in hand. Bliss.

My dress was quite simple and cost a lot less than the average £1500 of today. We assembled our own Marks and Spencer cake and I did my own hair and makeup. All of this was so we could afford the photographer and a lovely honeymoon. It is possible to keep things stylish on a wedding and stick to a budget but work out where your priorities lie and keep the extra money for those. You’ll be so pleased you did!

I agree on all the tips mentioned in the infographic. It could save you money if you look for wedding packages.

There’s definitely some ways to save a buck so you can use that money towards things that you get what you pay for, like photography.
