Brighten Up Your Walls with Canvas Prints

If you follow regularly, you’ll know I’m a huge fan of using your photos to create wall art. I even have a very popular Pinterest board, dedicated to decorating your walls with interesting and innovative imagery. So, today’s guest post was bang on topic for me, and a good one to share with you all. Enjoy.

Wall art displayIf you are looking for an inexpensive way to give your rooms a new look canvas prints are a great option. They are a flexible way to finish off a room, which means it is easy to achieve exactly the look you are after.

Canvas prints can be produced in a range of sizes. Most wall print firms offer a range of sizes from around 8×8 inches right up to 36×56 inches.

The smaller prints are great for creating picture walls of family pictures or themed pictures. Larger prints look great as the main feature of a dining room or living room. Medium sized prints work well for bedrooms and the small ones are great for cloakrooms and bathrooms.

Order online receive by post

The way it works is you send your photos to the print firm and choose a size and frame. You upload the photos you want turned into pictures onto the firm’s website. When your pictures are ready, they are sent to you via the post.

Where to get the source photos

Potentially you can choose any image and have it turned into a canvas print. All you need to do is to make sure that the quality of the image is good enough to produce a clear picture.

You need to bear in mind that the print is going to be blown up, so the digital picture you use needs to be of a reasonably high quality. Each picture needs to be at least 250kb to produce good results. The bigger the canvas the better the resolution of the original photo needs to be. If you are going to take fresh photos to be transformed into wall prints, it makes sense to set your camera at the highest resolution.

Many firms will take negatives, slides and old photos and transform them into canvas prints for you. These firms scan the picture to turn it into a digital file that they can then print. Your original photos are returned when your canvas prints are returned.

If you are worried about sending off original photos, you can ask a physical photo shop to scan the original and give you the digital file. Alternatively, you can take a photo of your old photo. If you do this, you need to check the quality carefully before sending it off.

Other considerations

When ordering your canvases here are a few additional things you need to consider.

Frame choice

Most people opt for frameless prints. These look great, and fit in with virtually any style of decor. Floating frames also look great in most modern homes.

Before clicking the order button, check out the finish options. They can turn a basic family snap into a unique piece of art. If you have a photo that is not particularly good quality, turning it into a shadow print can enable you to use it to decorate your home.

These make great gifts

As well as being a great way to decorate your home canvas prints, make fantastic personalised gifts.

I love this idea, I’ve been thinking about it for some time. It really needs some planning so If you are not very good with dimensions, ask for some advice and help to plan the idea from the shop you will print the canvases. The result is always great especially when you print your own photographs!
