This competition is now closed. Judy from Perdu Puzzles would like to thank everyone for their comments. Congratulations to the winner: Kathleen Hooper.
These aren’t just any kind of puzzles for children. Oh no!
Modern, funky, brightly coloured, in a pop art style, these jigsaws are like nothing you’ve seen before! And you can even turn them into wall art when you’re done.
Perdu Puzzles design and make some of the most colourful and fun puzzles you can buy. They are designed by hand using modern computer equipment and then they cut a limited edition run of each puzzle using a laser cutter. They use modern materials instead of cardboard and can produce sharper edges so no wrinkling or difficulty in fitting the pieces together.
Perdu Puzzles sent us the colourful Cow Profile jigsaw to try out and the girls were really excited about this one. They like puzzles, but tend to get a bit bored with the run of the mill Disney princess or Hello Kitty ones, and were really keen to have a go at this. As you can tell from their attire, it was straight after school!
Aimed at children aged 6-12 years the jigsaws can be done inside the frame or for a bigger challenge, outside the frame. The frame can also be used as a stencil.
It took Miss E no more than 5 minutes to do it in the frame, once she got going. Miss R helped and between them they mastered it very quickly.
But then the challenge. Take the frame away and see how long it takes now! Miss R (only 5) decided this was a step too far and instead set about using the stencil to create her own beautiful cow masterpiece.
Miss E, never one to shy away from a challenge, and with a little help from me to get started, soon got going. This was much harder than she thought though. She didn’t quite get the legs the right way round to begin with and this sent her off on the wrong tangent. Once she figured it out though she was flying. I have to say she does have an amazing memory and had remembered how the pieces fitted together from the first time round! And here it is, outside the frame.
Miss E also had to use the stencil to create her (not so?) colourful cow, complete with earrings and cow bell!
What great fun! So different to anything we’ve ever tried before. And, if and when they do get tired of doing the puzzle, it comes complete with backing paper, so you can mount the finished puzzle and frame it for an unusual piece of kids wall art. Super!
