Design a Home Blog: Love Chic Living Gets a Makeover

Happy New Year and welcome to 2013!

It’s been an amazing 2012 for me and my Home Design blog and I hope you’ve noticed a few changes about the place over the last few days.

I’ve been busy rebuilding and redesigning the site for some fresh challenges and exciting changes this coming year. It’s not quite finished yet; there are several hundred posts to amend but I’m hoping it will all be complete in the next week or so.

I would love your feedback on the new design. Do you like the layout? What about the colours? I’m pretty pleased with the magazine feel to the main page, what do you think? I’m hoping it will be easier to see more recent posts and give you more choice in what to read.

I have a new Logo being designed as we speak, so the one you see at the top of the page is just temporary and will be replaced by something fabulous very soon.

So what inspired me to make all these changes?

Well firstly I wanted the blog to have a more professional appearance. The original template and theme was lovely but I hadn’t tweaked it since the day I set it up and it felt like I’d moved on so much from that day, and the look of the blog hadn’t.  I’m much happier with the general layout now and I’m hoping it will be much easier to read for those visitors who aren’t regular blog readers.

Secondly, I have a very exciting business idea that I’m going to launch in the next few weeks and I needed a much better looking platform from which to do this. This new look will allow me to really showcase my new service. Watch this space for more news on this later.

The Past Year

2012 has been an amazing year for me and for the blog. Love Chic Living has grown from nowhere and given me an income and huge personal rewards.

I’ve attended a Blogging Conference.

I went to the MADs Parenting Blog awards when the blog was nominated for Best Home Blog 2012.

I have worked with some incredible brands like John Lewis, British Gas, Dwell, Next and Selfridges.

I’ve learnt how to vlog (definite room for improvement here!).

I did my own Home Makeover and blogged about it along the way in the Dining Room Makeover Series.

I worked with other bloggers on Moodboard Monday and on the Family Budgeting Home Makeover.

And I joined with other local bloggers in raising money for Save the Children when we created a window for the Luminarium.

The experience has been quite life changing to be honest. It’s given me and my family some wonderful opportunities and has been great fun.

Exciting Times Ahead

And so to 2013 and what lies in ahead.

As I mentioned earlier I have a new business venture to launch in the next few weeks which I’m thrilled about!

On a personal level I’m selling my ‘other’ business, my baby signing classes which I’ve been running for 5 years now. Selling this will allow me more time to concentrate on home interiors, blogging and writing.

I also have a few fabulous writing opportunities. You’ll see me writing for the Britmums blog later this month focusing on fabulous home and interiors bloggers, and I’ve already started writing for the Tots100 Living Reads section looking at other bloggers’ makeovers.

I have great plans for the blog too, and this new professional layout is just the beginning.

I would love to hear from you too, particularly if you have any ideas of the kinds of things you’d like to see more of here on the blog. You might like me to source more products to showcase, or maybe write more ‘How To’ articles with lots of top tips on how to decorate and update your home without it costing a fortune. Or maybe you’d like more inspiration for how to do makeovers, what the current trends are, and how to incorporate them into your current schemes.

Whatever it is, please do leave a comment and let me know! Here’s to a fabulous 2013.

Sharing is caring!

I love the new look Jen! So fresh and beautifully designed. Look forward to seeing the logo and to hearing more 🙂 I would love to see tips on how to disguise your home office, mine is in the playroom and the whole room looks a bit mismatched currently.

I love it. I works so well Jen. I am very excited to see what you have come up with for your logo too! I think Penny suggestion is a very good one. With so many people having to work from home even if it’s in the evening doing household paper work. I’d like to see more wallpaper ideas, I love them. I’m too scared to use wallpaper in my home, but I keep saying its because I’ve not seen just the right one. Children’s bedroom too, and teenager room ideas. Amanda xx
