Today I’m really excited to announce a new Moodboard Monday collaboration between Love Chic Living and LISH Concepts. Want to join in and create a Moodboard with us? Once a fortnight we’ll be announcing our Moodboard theme and a week later posting our Moodboards for everyone to see. The twist? We’ll be posting our Moodboards on each other’s blog. We would love you to join us and create your own Moodboards so if the idea gains momentum we’ll open it up as a Linky.
LISH Concepts (Love Inspiration Style Happines) is a beautiful blog, written by Lucy or Mummylish as she’s also known. It’s full of gorgeous style, beautiful fashion and an honest love for Littlelish, Lucy’s adorable 3 year old. I’m thrilled to be collaborating with her and together we hope to bring you a real cross-section of styles and designs with our Moodboards.
So what is a Moodboard? Well, it’s a collection of images, magazine pictures, fabrics or photos of a style that you want to create. It focuses your mind, gives you a brief when pulling together your ideas and prevents you straying too far from your concept.
How to create a Moodboard is a fantastic post on L.I.S.H. that describes the process brilliantly. Do hop over and take a look. To summarise though, start with selecting a few words, 5 at the most, that best describe your idea or design and then draw together your board either online or in the flesh. However you choose to make your board it really doesn’t matter.
So let’s take an example. Here’s your theme – My Ideal Bedroom. Now think of your 5 words to describe the type of design you would like to create.
I would choose: Calm, Elegant, Modern, Dramatic, Love.
The words are all individual, and hopefully don’t cross over in meaning at all. Using these words start pulling together images; it’s often easiest to start with one key item and build your look around that.
For the Moodboards we’re going to show in our Moodboard Monday collaboration we’ll be using different tools to showcase our designs. Photoshop, picmonkey or picasa collages, Olioboards, mydeco 3D planner or simply just a collection of photos, it really doesn’t matter how they’re pulled together, it’s the final design that counts.
It doesn’t matter what images you use either. They could be an abstract collection rather than a decorating scheme shown here. As long as they represent your brief and you love the end result that’s all that matters!
And so here we go! Our theme for our first Moodboard Monday post is:
School’s out for Summer
Pop back next Monday to see our what kind of Moodboards we’ve created. If you fancy having a go yourselves we’d love to know what you’ve created. You can even grab the Moodboard Monday badge from the sidebar and link up with us. Looking forward to seeing your creations!
