Love Interiors Linky: Dining Room Makeover Project #6

Contemporary christmas table Well the time is finally here, when the Dining Room Makeover is complete! There are one or two things I could tweak but essentially the main room is now finished.

If you remember, a while ago now I told you that the Dining/Playroom just wasn’t being utilised as much as it should be, and with the family getting a bit older we needed a different focus in the room. Hence my plans to turn into more of a Den or Snug room.

It has taken many months (we don’t do things quickly!) and with a little help from some lovely Next Home products and accessories we’ve been able to turn into a fab space that we’re incredibly pleased with.

In this final post in the series, I want to show you some lovely tableware as I’ve been playing around with the table, dressing it for a Christmas meal. With the table extended and set, you can see how it fits in with the rest of the room; how there’s plenty of space when it’s out and how it transforms from one use to the other.

This week, Next have sent me this lovely Neve Dinner Set and gorgeous plated Wine Glasses

next homeI’ve used them to create a mainly monochrome themed table, with just a few flashes of colour to brighten it up, and to tie in with the rest of the room.

A few Christmas decorations placed about the table give it a sparkly look and festive feel. I’ve created a really simple centrepiece with the Next Mosaic platter and some artfully placed baubles from the Christmas decorations bag. It doesn’t have to be complicated or cost a lot; for a modern, contemporary Christmas table keep the scheme simple and minimal.  Use just one or two colours and be creative with the accessories.

Next christmas table NExt home christmasOf course the one thing that’s missing from this table is crackers! I didn’t have any to hand when I set the table but some white and silver ones would look great. As would a white linen tablecloth and matching napkins if you have them. You could also add a few place name holders, and get the children to make the namecards for a great Christmas craft activity.

A big thank you to Next Home for sponsoring this series of posts and providing lots of lovely goodies to help fill out the room.

This is an unusual twist for Christmas, I love the black theme, it looks very modern! Black is not the color for Christmas in fact it is the last color you would use, but the way your incorporated the silvers and the copper in the mix makes it looks alive and happy. It’s a happy black theme! Not the usual red and green decoration for Christmas. Great thinking!
