It’s been absolutely ages since I created a Moodboard but thought it was about time I got back to it! Having taken a look at the wide variety of art paintings available at Saatchi I was inspired by a particular collection and more particularly, by the painting you see in the top right corner of the board. ‘Sous le grand arbres’ by Virginie Gallois was of interest because of the colours. I really can’t say I know anything about art but I do know I loved the colour combinations in this piece and started to think about what kind of colour palette I’d pick from it if decorating a room.
To be honest there were a few to choose from but I decided on the still very popular yellow and grey theme, but softened with the pink it seems much gentler and more feminine. Very abstract in its appearance, the painting can sit with well pattern and as you can see from the cushion selection I’ve been quite bold. To accessorise the room, stay mainly with the yellow and a blue toned grey, almost smokey really, and add pink as the accent here and there. Don’t overdo it. The grey zig zag rug, plus geometric print cushions are again softened by the playful flamingo cushions with the addition of pink to tie it all together. Mix and match these on a large grey sofas for a fun, yet grown up look.
I know this won’t be to everyone’s taste but even if you don’t like the cushion selection for example, or the particular colour palette maybe there are other aspects that you can take away from the moodboard to use in your own home. I do hope so. And if you’re interested in finding out more about the artwork featured in this moodboard you can see further details here
So let me know what you think. Are you a Moodboard fan? Do you like these colour combinations and could they work in your own home? I would love to hear your thoughts so do leave me a comment below.
