As in previous years, the Autumn Fair 2016 – a huge interiors trade fair – was held at the NEC in Birmingham just last week.
I was thrilled to be asked by the organisers to deliver a seminar in the e-commerce theatre focusing on Pinterest for Business, talking about how using Pinterest efficiently can grow sales and boost revenue.
Having used Pinterest successfully for years as a blogger, and having launched courses on how to use it, I know only too well that it’s a powerful tool for businesses and brands too. The event was really well attended, as were all the social media talks, just showing that businesses are really on board with the idea of using Pinterest to grow their customer base.
The 3-Step Fast Track Strategy:
Time was limited in the presentation so I shared my easy to apply 3-Step Fast Track Strategy with the attendees, illustrating the key areas to focus on to get results fast. It’s a strategy that works well and hundreds of bloggers and businesses are following my approach through one of my online courses even as we speak (or as you read!).
So what does this mean?
Well, essentially if you’re starting with the basics there are 3 things you absolutely must do to give yourself and your pins a fighting chance on Pinterest.
- You need to let Pinterest know who you are and that you have good quality content to share, and that you know pinners are going to love it, and want it. This step is all about getting your setup right. It’s about making sure you’re visible, on brand and not anything spammy. It’s about using Rich Pins, building the right boards and adding enough keywords to use Pinterest SEO in the right way.
- Secondly you need to make the right kind of pins and ensure they’re optimised in the right way. It’s much easier than you think once you know the basic rules, and if you keep your pins on brand and on topic.
- Thirdly you need to find a good strategy, one that fits with your audience and with your business or blog. You need to repin other people’s content, sharing much more of that than of your own, and you need to do this regularly and consistently.
And that’s it!
If you follow those 3 rules, you’re definitely going to see big results fast.
