The 10 HOT Bedroom Color Trends to Watch in 2026

Bedrooms are the one place where we can really create a mood that suits us. Whether you want a calm retreat, a cocooned sleep space or something more playful and personal, the colour you choose makes all the difference.

For 2026, the mood is clear. We’re leaning into deeper tones, natural shades and layered warmth. The trends are less about perfection and more about atmosphere. Over the last few weeks, I’ve been tracking colour launches from paint brands, watching how bedrooms are evolving on Pinterest and keeping an eye on designer moodboards. Here’s what’s coming through as the most inspiring bedroom colours for the year ahead.

1. Wine and Berry Tones

Rich reds are back, but not the bold primary kind. Think burgundy, deep cherry and blackberry shades that feel luxurious and a little dramatic. I’m seeing them used to great effect behind beds or in panelled walls, where they instantly make the room feel more indulgent.

If your bedroom gets lots of light, this palette can feel incredibly cocooning. We’ve been toying with a plum feature wall for a while now and I think 2026 might finally be the year we go for it.

2. Soft Clay

Warm terracotta and muted peach tones are replacing cooler greys and whites. These earthier shades bring such a lovely glow to a bedroom, especially in the evening light. They work brilliantly with natural wood furniture and textural bedding in linen or cotton.

I love how clay shades adapt to both modern and traditional rooms. They feel grounded and welcoming without being too safe.

3. Forest and Olive Green

Nature-inspired colours are still going strong and green is leading the way. But this year it’s more muted and moody. Olive, sage and forest tones are perfect for bedrooms where you want to feel calm and connected to the outdoors.

We painted one of our spare rooms in a smoky green last year and it gets so many compliments. It has that magical ability to feel both fresh and cosy at the same time.

4. Warm Neutrals

Beige is having a proper glow-up. But this time it’s less bland and more buttery, with soft taupes, mushroom tones and warm creams coming through. These colours are perfect if you want something light but not stark.

They’re also a great base for layering textures, which is something I’m doing more and more in bedrooms now. Add wool throws, tactile cushions and wood to stop it feeling too flat.

5. Dusky Blue

Blue is timeless for bedrooms but 2026 is steering away from icy or baby tones. Instead, we’re seeing softer denim, inky navy and smoky teal shades that feel more grown up. These colours create a peaceful feel and pair really well with crisp white bedding and dark wood furniture.

This is one of those colours that looks even better by lamp light. If you are nervous about going dark, start with the wall behind your headboard and build from there.

6. Greige with Depth

Not quite grey, not quite beige. Greige is the quiet achiever of 2026. It’s ideal for bedrooms that you want to keep adaptable, especially if you love changing up your cushions and bedding often.

The key is to go for warmer undertones and avoid anything that feels too cool or blue. I’ve tried a few samples recently and was surprised at how different they looked depending on the time of day.

7. Dusty Pinks

Pink never really goes out of style but this year it’s more muted and elegant. Think rose, blush and faded coral. These colours are surprisingly versatile and look beautiful in both modern and vintage-style bedrooms.

I often recommend this to friends who want something feminine but not sugary. Paired with gold, cream and warm woods, it gives a really balanced, calming effect.

8. Layered Colour Schemes

Rather than choosing just one colour, there’s a big move towards layering. Using tone-on-tone palettes, painted panelling, soft furnishings and even ceilings to bring depth and personality to a room.

9. Midnight Tones

Dark paint in the bedroom is nothing new, but this year it’s feeling more sophisticated and enveloping. Deep charcoal, blackened navy and inky indigo are making a strong case for more dramatic bedrooms. Used on walls, ceilings or even wardrobes, these shades create a real sense of calm.

If your room gets good natural light, a darker scheme can feel surprisingly serene rather than heavy. I’ve seen some beautiful examples of tone-on-tone styling using dark walls with dark bedding and warm lighting. It’s moody but still cosy.

10. Soft Lavender and Misty Lilac

A gentle return of lavender and lilac tones is on the horizon for 2026, especially in bedrooms where calm is key. These are not the bright purples of the early 2000s — the new versions are muted, chalky and often greyed off for a more contemporary feel.

I’m seeing these shades used with natural textures like rattan and linen to stop them feeling too sweet. Lovely in guest rooms too, where you want something fresh and welcoming.

What I love about the bedroom trends for 2026 is that they feel relaxed. Nothing is too styled or perfect. It’s all about how a space makes you feel. Whether that’s through deeper colours, natural tones or a warm neutral base, the aim is to create somewhere that feels completely yours.

If you’re thinking of refreshing your bedroom, start small. Paint one wall. Change the bedding. Add in some textured cushions. Sometimes that’s all it takes to breathe new life into the room where we spend the most time.
