Have you been considering Moduleo Flooring? Want to read a Module Flooring review before you make up your mind?
If you read the blog last week, you will have seen that my living room makeover is complete.
I have a full reveal plus video tour.
Part of that makeover has included a collaboration with Moduleo Flooring, who were kind enough to gift me some amazing vinyl plank tiles so I wanted to show this off in more detail.
If you’re looking for a Moduleo flooring review, what I think of the product, how easy it was to lay and what we think now it’s been down for a few weeks, keep reading.
I’ll also go over any Moduleo Flooring problems to help you make up your mind before you invest.
Moduleo Flooring Review:

Probably in the kitchen. Possibly the bathroom. It tended to be an inexpensive flooring that was practical and functional and was very popular in its time. But over the years it’s got a bad reputation.
It was most certainly the cheap alternative, often put down in low grade rentals and council houses. (Nothing wrong with a council house, I grew up in one, just making the point that it was inexpensive).
In recent years though, vinyl flooring has had a bit of a resurgence. And a complete overhaul too.
No longer does it only come on a roll from the local DIY, but has been styled and designed to meet the needs of the ever-demanding style conscious homeowner.
Vinyl flooring is now COOL.
What is Moduleo Vinyl Flooring?

I must admit when I first looked at the Moduleo website I was quite confused. There are pages of products, various design builders helping you choose your style and a selection of different ranges.
But once I’d spent time understanding how it all hung together I soon realised the possibilities for creating a bespoke floor were endless.
What are the benefits of Moduleo Vinyl Flooring?
- Moisture-resistant
- Scratch and scuff resistant
- Sound and heat absorbent
- R10 rated slip resistant
- Easy to clean
The Select and Transform ranges come with a 15 and 20 year guarantee respectively (this impressed me greatly) and all products come with a Protectonite PU wear layer meaning its protected from scuffs, stains and dirt.
Why Choose Vinyl Flooring for your living room?
I’d dabbled with a bit of luxury vinyl in my hallway and loved how it looked and how easy it was to maintain. For the living room, we’d lived with carpet for 10 years.
Whilst the children were small it seemed a good option; the wooden floor underneath was draughty and cold, and not good for little toes. But now we were ready for something a little different.
With dark walls and a moody style, I wanted to help lighten the room and give it a clean, minimal, almost Scandi inspired feel.
Looking at Moduleo’s options, the Ethnic Wenge plank from the Transform range seemed like a great option.
I’d viewed much of the range in a local supplier’s store and new how it looked in the flesh, so was sure it would be light and sleek enough for the look I wanted to achieve.

Laying the Floor:
If you’re good at your DIY and competent at floor laying, you could tackle this yourself. We chose to have a floor fitter to come and do ours, mostly for speed and best use of time. Tom has been to us before and we trust him to do a great job.

First up the floor needs to be prepared. We made sure it was solid and flat with no protruding nails. Tom also levelled off an area around the fireplace which dipped quite badly just to ensure a good finish.

We’d left the sofas in the room, so Tom was able to lay half the floor at a time working around them.
The planks went down easily, and very quickly, with Tom cutting edges where necessary and around radiator pipes. His finish is excellent, and I’d highly recommend having someone do this for you if you’re not sure about it yourself.

We opted for a simple finish with a sealant but there are options available from Moduleo if you want something more detailed.

There were no problems laying the Moduleo vinyl flooring. Could we have done it ourselves? I suspect not. I’d recommend hiring a professional to get the desired finish.
The Completed Look:

Moduleo Flooring Review: Finished Room

The styling is perfect for the room, and helps it feel lighter and brighter, giving it a cool, contemporary style.
The family is happy with it too. I was worried the children would find it cold on their feet and not like the texture, but they’re really happy. It’s very comfortable and warm underfoot, and not slippy either, which is a concern with younger children.
Cost wise, this room would cost around Ā£750 plus the fitter fees (ours was Ā£250), the same as a good quality carpet. Admittedly this is a reasonable outlay but with the 15 year guarantee, over the years, you’re getting very good value for money and I would highly recommend investing.
Frequently Asked Questions (updated in November 2022)
I felt it would be useful to update this article in 2022 after 5 years of living with the Moduleo Vinyl flooring in our living room.

Does Moduleo Flooring scratch?
In the 5 years we’ve had the flooring down I’ve not noticed any scratches. We do have the main area of the floor covered with a rug, but the room has seen heavy use over the last few years of lockdowns with the whole family spending long periods of time in here.
We also got a cat during this time and still I’ve not noticed any scratches or marks from heavy use.
How long does Moduleo Flooring last?
So the flooring is guaranteed for 15 years and after 5 years of heavy use, I can see how it’s going to last well. It looks just as good as new.

Is Moduleo hard wearing?
From our experience, I’d say so. We have it laid in a busy living room, although much of it is covered with a rug. It’s hard to say if it would look as good if we’d had it in the kitchen or hallway.
Is Moduleo better than Karndean?
I get asked this a lot. Unfortunately we’ve not tried Karndean but do have several rooms covered in Harvey Maria and it’s just as good a quality, if not better.

What do you do about vinyl flooring gaps?
So we do have one gap in our Moduleo vinyl floor. It appeared quite soon after it was laid and after some research, realised it’s where we have some central heating pipes. So the floor expands and contracts in this area quite a lot; the gap appears and disappears as the floor moves.
Over the last 5 years this has not got any worse and doesn’t look very noticeable.
How do you clean Moduleo Flooring?
We just use brush, sometimes a light vacuum and a damp mop. You can use approved Moduleo Floor Cleaner too.
Can you use a steam mop on Module Flooring?
Use of a steam mop on Module vinyl flooring is not recommended.

The flooring was gifted from Moduleo but all words, thoughts and opinions are my own. Thank you for supporting the brands that make the blog possible.

Such a beautiful living room. I really appreciate you sharing your living room! Thank you os much. š
What color is this?
Moduleo is prone to scratching though, that’s the problem. Much more so than other Luxury Vinyl Tiles. We are a flooring company and we won’t use it for this reason. It is an inferior product to Amtico or Karndean in our professional opinion. I would be interested to see the pictures of the floor after 6 months.

Hi Robert, thanks for your comment. The flooring has been down for a year now and I’ll be honest, I don’t see any scratches on it at all. I’m really pleased with the quality. It could be the room and how it’s used of course, and the style of flooring we chose just doesn’t show up any scratches, and to be fair things don’t move around too much in here, and it’s covered with rugs. Jen
Well that’s good to hear Jen. I can’t actually leave any pictures up of our floors but they haven’t been covered with rugs – although we have felt coasters on the table legs and chairs but it has scratched very badly in places. I hope it yours holds up better than ours.
Hi Jen- Sharing on the weekend edit in Colorado! Love that fireplace! laura
Hi I have a moduleo floor in my kitchen and I was wondering what sealant you used on yours, I can’t find a recommended sealant on the website nor in my searches online. I would be grateful if you could let me know what sealant you used and recommend
