The new M&S Spring Home catalogue is out and I picked up a copy free with my latest purchase of a popular home magazine. Now the M&S catalogue isn’t one I’d normally peruse for modern, trendy home interiors. I guess its image is still a bit traditional and classic and the style doesn’t always appeal to me. So imagine my surprise when I see that M&S have very cleverly collaborated with the amazing Terence Conran.
Conran is synonymous with modern contemporary design and minimal interiors and he seems to have brought a wonderful fresh and modern look to the M&S range.
At first glance I didn’t even realise that this was a Marks and Spencer catalogue!
What stands out for me? The cool, calm colours, the retro feel of the sofas, the gorgeous accessories and the minimal styling. It won’t be for everyone but with this approach M&S will have gained a whole new audience. Very clever!
As you move through the catalogue and into the usual M&S Living section the style remains modern and contemporary but the colours get brighter, reflecting the trend for mixing splashes of brights together.
The prices aren’t extortionate either. Of course it’s still M&S quality so you’re getting what you pay for, but your choices won’t necessarily break the bank.
There’s a lot here to appeal to a wide range of tastes and styles and I’m looking forward to seeing the range in the flesh.
Well done Marks and Spencer Home for producing some fabulous contemporary home interiors. I can’t wait to go shopping!
