So you have a few weeks until Mother’s Day, but what do you get for the mum that loves her home? Well I’ve teamed up with the lovely John Lewis (one of my favourite go to stores for stylish homewares) to show a few of my top picks for under £100.
I’m always keen to challenge the traditional ideas for gifts. You don’t always have to go for flowers and chocolates. And as far as I’m concerned as long as the ‘home’ gift isn’t a saucepan, then the rest is up for grabs.
Mother’s Day Gift Ideas for a Home Lover
These three pieces I’ve chosen are all from John Lewis – a brand that I love and would highly recommend. I only ever recommend gifts and stores from those I’ve seen and honestly like. So check them out and see what you think. Would these be gifts you could buy for your Mum? Does she love her home and enjoy accessorising it with stylish, on-trend items packed full of quality?
The first gift from my 100 budget is the mid-range priced Isaac Ball Task Light in Copper. This one has caused quite a storm in our house with several family members fighting over wanting to put it in their room! I did have to remind them what it was for. The first thing that struck me about this light is the contrast between the shiny copper shade and the jet black stand; it really makes a statement.
It’s just stunning isn’t it. I love the mid-century retro styling and of course the very shiny copper shade. It’s a great size, just right for a desk or reading corner and makes a stylish accessory for any room. This retails for £55 which I think is a pretty good price for something so beautiful, that’s perfect for a stylish mum who loves their home.
Now next up is this jug from HemingwayDesign for Royal Doulton, and I think it’s a steal at £20. The quality is perfect, it’s very solid and heavy and I can’t quite believe it’s only £20. If your home-loving Mum adores flowers, the jug would make a great alternative vase. Or it would look great styled on a shelf amongst other pieces in a similar colour palette.
The collaboration between HemingwayDesigns and Royal Doulton brings together two design greats, one adding some quirky, contemporary styling to the other’s more traditional heritage. Sold as a milk or water jug, I actually think its much more versatile than that. What do you think?
The final choice is for a mum who loves to fill their home with fresh and vibrant aromas. Now I love a good candle, so does my mum… and all the women in my family to be honest. I do think you can’t go wrong with a stylish, beautifully packaged candle. Something simple that fits with most decor schemes is a good idea too. But then there’s the aroma of course. This one, from the John Lewis Croft collection is called Citrus Grove, and let me assure you, it really packs a punch. Filled with the scent of sun-ripened lemons and limes, this aroma is deep and lingering.
I thought it might be a cool idea to pack the pieces into a hamper as a lovely way to present the goodies on Mother’s Day. It’s a nice touch don’t you think? The desk light might be a little large but that packs up nicely in its own box, then you could pad out the other items with packaging to make a lovely presentation.
You can shop the full range of Mother’s Day gifts at John Lewis HERE, but if you’re after something for your mum and you know she would adores something beautiful for her home, then check out this Home Lovers Mother’s Day Gift section HERE. This is where you’ll find the pieces I’ve chosen too, if you’re feeling inspired by my choices.
