The Best Twig Christmas Tree for Indoors and Outdoors

Are you wanting a beautiful twig Christmas tree for your home this year?

Twig Christmas Trees have been growing in popularity in the last few years (I own two believe it or not). If you love a traditional green Christmas tree, either real or fake, then this won’t be for you, but if you are into something a little different and more contemporary then you’ll love them.

Many of them come pre-lit, but some don’t and you can add your own lights.

They look best when you use decorations from within the same theme (I’ll be covering this in another post) and when you keep it quite simple.

Give them plenty of space to stand out in the room and enjoy. Alternatively, you can use this style of tree outdoors and it looks really effective by the front door if you have the space.

So here’s my best of what’s out there at the moment for Twig Christmas Trees.

John Lewis Pre-Lit Paper White Tree:

twig Christmas treeThis twig Christmas tree from John Lewis can be used outdoors, comes pre-lit with 120 soft white LED lights and consists of two parts. As you can see from the image above it looks just as stunning indoors.

Available in 2 different sizes the 6.5ft is Ā£95 whilst the 4ft is just Ā£60. Isn’t it fabulous?

Snow Twig Christmas Tree from Wayfair:

There are a few things I really like about this Twig Christmas tree from Wayfair.

Firstly, there’s a choice of height and you can even buy a 7ft version. But the main reason I’ve fallen in love with it has to be the style. The twigs are quite high. They won’t intrude on the room too much so are perfect for those with less space who still want the height of a good Christmas tree.

It comes with an 8 function light setting, all included and a good stand. The decorations on the tree show in the image above are extra.

Shop for this tree on the Wayfair website.

Argos 4ft Pre-Lit Twig Christmas Tree

This smaller twig Christmas tree from Argos is a bargain at just £30 and is ideal for the smaller rooms in the home and for those that want a minimal Christmas tree this year. This 4ft tree is lightly dusted with a sheet of snow and comes with pre-lit with warm white LEDs.

Golden Glow Twig Tree from Balsam Hill:

Oh be still my beating heart!

I’m a huge fan of Balsam Hill after a collaboration last year where we gifted a tree to a fabulous Charity and so I was thrilled to find their wonderful twig Christmas tree selection included this golden glow variety.

Ideal for indoor or outdoor use, they come in a small variety of heights and look elegant on their own or embellished with baubles.

Pre-lit with warm LED lights and branches can be bent for a customised look. Includes stakes for an easy outdoor display.

This tree and many others is available from Balsam Hill

Dunelm Brown Twig Christmas Tree:

I like the simple, authentic design of the Dunelm twig tree and at just Ā£25 it’s a great price too.

The height of 5ft is often enough for twig trees which may become unstable if you over decorate them, but this is a great one for when you want a second tree in your home. Perfect for a larger hallway for example where you don’t want the fuss of a full tree.

Check out this twig tree and many others on the Dunelm website.

Indoor / Outdoor Twig Tree from Very

Another great, simple twig tree, this time from Very. Perfect for outdoors, I actually think this one will suit gardens the best with it’s authentic trunk and branch style.

Currently selling from online retailer Very at £49.99.

Frequently Asked Questions:

What is the benefit of a Twig Christmas Tree?

Twig Christmas trees have a couple of benefits over more authentic looking Christmas trees. They’re great for indoors in a more contemporary home interior and of course, most of them can be used both inside and outside, giving them double the uses.

How long will a twig Christmas tree last?

This is going to to depend on the quality of the tree of course, but I would anticipate several years’ worth of use both indoors and outdoors. Why not search out a second hand tree too and do your bit for the environment.

Can I use a twig Christmas tree outdoors?

Yes, mostly you can but do check the type of tree you are buying and ensure it can be used outdoors. You’ll need to ensure it has access to a power point of course so do bear that in mind when you’re planning where to put it.

Can I decorate a twig Christmas tree?

You can decorate a twig tree and, in fact they look really good when you use simple, effective decorations. I have a blog posts on how to decorate a twig tree which should give you some really good tips.

Is a Twig Tree easy to store?

Like most Christmas trees, a twig tree will come in it’s own long box and as long as you keep this in good condition, you won’t have trouble popping it in the loft or the garage along with all your other Christmas decorations when the festive season comes to an end.

Do you need extra lights for a twig tree?

No. Pretty much 100% of Christmas twig trees, whether for indoor or outdoor use will come pre-lit. So the lights are already attached with the wire fed through the trunk of the tree.

Which colour twig tree should I choose?

There are different styles of twig tree available from a birch pale colour through to darker wood and silver or gold. The choice is completely yours of course, but for outdoors, I’d choose one of the wood colours to help it feel more authentic in nature. For indoors though, it’s best to coordinate with the style of room or your home in general.
