Decorate your Garden with a Sonnenglas

In the meantime I wanted to introduce you to this lovely product, the SONNENGLAS®. On the face of it, it’s a garden lantern but actually, it’s so much more.
Created in South Africa and originally designed for people without electricity, the production of SONNENGLAS® has created jobs for over 50 previously unemployed men and women from the townships Alexandra and Soweto.
In South Africa, SONNENGLAS® has become a real cult item and created quite a buzz. It’s environmentally friendly, gret fun and is now available across the globe.

SONNENGLAS® contains four solar-powered LEDs, which are charged by solar cells in its lid. When placed in direct sunlight the batteries are charged and provide many hours of soft, yet bright lighting without glare.

Lift the lid and fill it with whatever your creative brain allows. I took a peony head and popped it in mine just to show how pretty it can look, but why not fill with shells and sand or dried fruit or pebbles. The list is endless and only limited by your imagination.

Can you spot it amongst the branches on the image below?

When it gets dark you can turn on the SONNENGLAS® using the unique magnetic switch. The four LED lights give off a beautiful glow, a light which is ideal for reading by.

The SONNENGLAS retails for £23.99 and I’m more than happy to recommend it.

Ahh what a lovely idea! And looks so cute too.
Love finding alternative ways to light up outdoor spaces and this one is a beaut. Love a design that allows you to interact and change its look. x
It looks beautiful at night Jen – must try one !
What a clever idea and so pretty in the garden too. Looks like it lights up really brightly too.
This looks cute. Such a great idea for countries where power is an issue but they have unlimited solar energy.
Solar power and great community message – its a winner isn’t it? I love a few solar lights dotted around in the summer, saves all the batteries portable lights go through!
I would have multiple little jars to light up one of our paths in the garden. Loved the last photos which captures the light emitted!
