What will you be up to this weekend? The Easter weekend is traditionally a very busy time for home DIY and renovations, and if the weather improves I might even be doing some myself.
A couple of years ago, I wrote this post about some top ideas for Easter holiday home makeovers and it’s still really popular now. It makes me think that lots of us are looking for inspiration on what to do with our homes now the evenings are lighter and we feel more invigorated with the change in the season.
I thought, therefore, that I would share some of the things I might be doing over Easter, and some of the projects and ideas that I have for April.
IKEA Furniture Hack:
I’ve been sent some delightful furniture knobs from a lovely little shop, Mollie and Fred, that suit my love of all things Scandi and am planning on a little upcycling. As part of #ProjectAttic, our youngest daughter will have a bedroom revamp and we’ve been brainstorming some of the ideas to include. We have some Ikea Malm furniture, which is pretty dull for an 8-year-old, so I’m planning a little Annie Sloan makeover with the addition of these cute rabbit and fox knobs. She’s already planning the colours!
I’m sure you know my love of candles by now, so when I was asked to try one of these from Such and Such I jumped at the chance. The weekend won’t be all about DIY and home renovation. I’m planning a little R&R too, whilst burning this little beauty. Tuscan Sun by Circle 21 Candles is the combination of fresh berries and citrus with honeysuckle and musk, a perfect, zingy fragrance that’s just right for me. I love the clean, simple packaging too, and innovative cork lid. It’s great to discover something new!
Dip Dyed Art:
A little while ago, I wrote a post about the Latest Interior Trends for 2015 which included an idea from the very talented artist and author, Oliver Jeffers. He has been producing some very edgy dip dyed art, and whilst I know I won’t be able to produce anything quite as amazing, I want to have a go at this look myself. I’m scouring the charity shops for an appropriate piece as we speak, and will be looking at the best paint to use for the job. I’ll need to rig something up to hang it from whilst it dries too, so let’s hope the weather is kind.
Ok, well I say renovations in the loosest sense of the word. I’m currently loving this blog, The Growing Family, all about managing your garden when you have children. And I’m taken with the series of The 10 Minute Gardener and top tips on what to grow and when, so I’m taking some of her advice and will be planting some seeds with the children this weekend in our little vegetable patch.
What will you be up to this Easter weekend?
