Review: Sengled Pulse LED + Wireless Speaker

If you’re a regular reader you’ll know how much I love innovative technology for the home. I was thrilled, therefore to be asked to review this new bluetooth speaker the Sengled Pulse LED + Wireless Speaker.

This one is a little different.

It’s an LED light, put into your lamp or overhead light fitting, that doubles up as a speaker. I love the idea of that.

Sengled PulseThe starter kit includes a master LED and secondary light giving you stereo sound in the same room. They’re really easy to install, look quite large and stylish, and fit either an E27 screw fitting or a B22 fitting. Available in white, silver or red, you don’t need to hide them away. If you read the review over on The Ana Mum Diary, you’ll see how they’ve used them on their own as the light fitting from the ceiling.

Sengled pulse reviewAs you can see, I’ve fitted one into my living room ceiling pendant, (this is the secondary lamp actually) and then put the master into my tripod standard lamp. Once you’ve fitted them, just download the app (either iOs or Android), switch on your lights and connect via Bluetooth. It’s that simple.

The app gives you the ability to control both the music and the lights. Firstly, it gives you the ability to make each light dimmable, either simultaneously or individually. This means you can turn down the lights in the daytime when you don’t need them, but still want to listen to the music.

Sengled pulseThen, you’ve got controls for different styles of sound like pop, classic and rock giving you a selection of sound adjustments, and of course volume controls. You can choose to listen to music through just one or both speakers, depending on what you need. I found the sound much better with both on and we particularly liked the pop setting which seemed to give the right amount of bass.

The starter set is available for £149 from the Sengled website. You can buy more Sengled Pulse lights and have upto 8 linked together on the same app.

So, what did we think? Well they look great and are easy to fit and use. The sound quality is reasonable for the price range, and I like that you can select different sound setups. It might be a good development if the app allowed adjustments on bass for example in the future. You do have to keep the lights on in the daytime of course if you want to use them, although you can dim the light fully. I think they’d be great for parties, and for teens too. We’re going to use these in our daughter’s bedroom after the makeover.

Disclaimer: The Sengled Pulse was gifted but all opinions and comments are genuine and honest, as ever.

Oh I never knew about this! We had sonos in our last house and were spoilt with systemline ceiling speakers…no such luck in the new country pad though, Interesting concept!

I like it. Sound, lights & fair price tag – what else could you possibly want of a lamp? Tell me though, where did you buy this splendid lamp body from?
