I’ve long been a fan of the home accessories products at B&Q and think they’re very underrated. With many supermarkets and DIY stores upping their game in this area, I do think that B&Q have got it just right with something for everyone at great prices. When they asked me to do take a look at their newly launched Spring/Summer range for 2016 I jumped at the chance.
This season they’ve designed 4 different collections, Summer Daze, Touch of Luxe, Kasbah and Meadow, all quite different to each other, and with a variety of products. I’ve picked some of my favourite pieces from all of the ranges including wallpaper, putting my own spin on styling their range. See what you think. To give me inspiration (and you, hopefully), I’ve made a collection inspired moodboard to show how the products will look together with some of my favourite wallpaper prints.
This had to be my favourite surprisingly; I really didn’t think I’d go for the pastel shades, but it has a big Scandi influence and mixed with a few soft pinks it’s transformed my office.
The Moodboard –
- Wallpapers: Grey Herringbone Wood £8 || Valiant Grey Wallpaper £8
- Cushions: Beauty in Simplicity £9 || Contrast Coral £9
- Concrete pot Faux succulent: £6
- Colours white pot succulent: £7
- Candles: Grey large £4 || Grey Small £3
- Tall vase: £8
- Small pot: Wax filled small pot £5
- Geometric Wire Lantern £15
- Small vase £5
- (Table my own)
This wood effect wallpaper has to be one of my favourites finds, and at only £8 per roll it’s a complete steal. It’s great quality and a very authentic print. Definitely one to bookmark. And of course it’s the perfect accessory for Summer Daze with its Scandi feel.
These vases and candle pot are incredibly good value and have a great chalky texture too.
Wouldn’t this Geometric wire lantern (£15) look great on the patio in summertime too? I’m definitely going to find lots of uses for this.
I need to get some new family photos printed out but for now I popped one of my recent Instagram/Polagram prints into the Summer Daze frame (£7). (And let’s not forget how utterly fabulous this concrete pot with faux succulent is!)
So I feel like the office is complete now. And who knew I’d come round to a little pastel in my home? Certainly surprised myself there.
Touch of Luxe:
This range is all about being bold with your decor, which is something I’m all for. Gold is everywhere too, so well done B&Q for tapping into that trend. Mixed with blues, forest fruits colours and metallic paint this is bang on for the moment.
I picked some of the stand-out pieces for me, and coupled it with a few rolls of statement wallpaper.
- Wallpapers: Gatsby £14 || Gold Foil Effect £18
- Plaque: Love you Like Crazy £5
- Candles: Spots and Strips both £4
- Clock: Acctim Retro Alarm Clock £10
- Bunting: Spots and Stripes £8
I’ve always been drawn to a little love-inspired typography and this metal plaque will hang nicely on a hook or noticeboard. Or pin it to the wall for instant wall art. The clock has an alarm too, and looks great on my desk.
Kasbah is a nomadic trend-inspired collection and contains lots of texture, pattern throws, cushions and of course candles. Again I wasn’t sure this collection was for me until the pieces for real in the store. There were many that I was drawn to. I’ve styled up a little seating corner in our dining room/den where the colours work really well.
The trend for storage baskets like this is big at the moment, and as well as looking beautiful they’re totally practical too. I’m going to use this one for storing some blog styling accessories, but it would look equally as good with magazines, logs by the fireplace, or even kids’ cuddly toys.
And of course, you can never have too many throws. I love the chevron print on this one, along with the dark pink/red hue.
The candles are actually scented, smell lovely and are such great value. Mix all these pieces with some deep, blood red paint like Colours Merlot on a feature wall, some gold/yellow accessories and maybe a little Grey Hints on the other walls. It’s one for the travellers and for those that love something with an eclectic feel.
