Well it’s December and the time is here. It’s time to think seriously about getting ready for Christmas! I’m sure we’re not alone in starting to prepare the home, the gifts, and the children for what is often the busiest time of the year and so I thought it would be lovely to share what we’re up to in a series of December posts.
If you happen to know me quite well, you’ll know that I ‘don’t do’ craft. Much to my eldest daughter’s disgust I’m not a great crafter, and no matter how many times I boast about my many other virtues, she has me down as a bad mother because of it. So this weekend I thought I’d do my best to put that right. We’ve been painting some lovely Christmas window decorations, and we’ve earmarked a gorgeous activity for next week – we’re going to make a Christmas garland and some felt decorations. Not too challenging and good enough that I rise in her estimations.
I do love getting ready for Christmas and with the children around it more than doubles the fun. This lovely box of goodies was an early Christmas present from Ladbrokes, who are currently celebrating the release of their Christmas games.
Today I’ve done the Santa run and exchanged all the gifts ready for the big day.
So soon I hear you cry.
Well yes, it had to be done today for various reasons and so this last weekend I’ve been wrapping like crazy. The Christmas songs were playing and the Christmas Snowflake candle was burning.
I came over all festive!
Next weekend we’re exchanging the second batch with the other side of the family and they’re all ready to go too. Phew.
Last week I wrote about decluttering your decorations and how to get the most out of those you already have. Another little task we undertook this weekend was to treat ourselves to a very lovely bag of new decorations courtesy of a John Lewis voucher I’d been given for some work I did for them last week. I’ve been loving their Winter Wonderland theme for a while and decide to go for it and treat us to some new ones. I’ll pop up another post next week to show you how they look on the tree, but the girls had such a fabulous time selecting bits they loved too. It was a very fun hour!
So what are you doing to get ready for Christmas, or are you avoiding it as long as possible? Do share your Christmas preparations with us in the comments.
Thank you to Ladbrokes for sending us the box of lovely Christmas goodies. And for helping my eldest daughter to believe I can do craft!
