I’m starting to really hope that Spring isn’t too far away. And with that in mind, today’s guest post has some great inspiration for giving your home some Spring makeover touches. Enjoy!
With the abundance of snowy flurries of late, it may not seem as though spring is here, but when it comes to giving your home a fresh spring makeover, starting sooner rather than later is key. Giving your home a spring clean is something you’re likely to do each year, but giving your décor a makeover for spring will give your home a fresh and clean feel too. From colour schemes to curtains, here are some easy tips to help you to decorate this spring.
Refresh Your Colour Scheme
When we think of spring, we think of a blank canvas with plenty of pastels, whites and altogether refreshing colours. Infuse spring into your home with a combination of these colours and your home will seem automatically brighter and full of light. For your walls, neutral colours like duck egg blue and shades of white will help to make your rooms seem more spacious, and are a fantastic blank canvas for you to add your own personality and style to. Adding brightly coloured furnishing such as curtains can help you to inject the colour you need to brighten the room in a more subtle way, and companies such as Harry Corry are a great place to start your search .
Clean Your Windows (Inside and Out)
Over winter cleaning often takes a backseat and is understandably forgotten about in favour of curling up with a book and a warming mug of tea. Unfortunately, this combined with the adverse winter weather conditions can leave our windows looking shabby and unloved. Spring poses the perfect opportunity for brightening up our windows both inside and out.
Whether you choose to clean the exterior window panes yourself or hire a window cleaner to do the chore for you, ensuring they’re squeaky clean can make such a huge difference to the appearance of your home and can let in more natural light than you’d think. Inside, use warm soapy water to clean down the sills, and get rid of the months of grime and dirt that are likely to have collected there. You can also wash and squeegee the inside panes to give them added sparkle.
Refresh the Wall Décor
Once you’ve touched up the paintwork and created a blank canvas on your walls, it’s time to add a touch of what makes you so fabulous. Create a feature wall using photographs, letters, cuttings and the precious things you have collected over the past year. Think of your walls as your gallery and use them to showcase the things you love and cherish. Collect frames together and hang your collection throughout your home, it doesn’t matter if the frames are all the same as mismatched frames are chic and give your display character.
There are plenty of inspirational ideas floating around on the internet that can be used and adapted within your home. The key thing to remember is that whatever makeover you choose to give your home this spring, make sure it reflects you!
