how to add colour to a room

Once you have decorated a room by adding paint, flooring and all of the other necessities, the fun can properly begin. Going out and shopping for accessories is one of the best things about re-doing a room. There is so much choice available that it can be really hard deciding on what you want and also finding pieces that match well together, however it is really enjoyable for those who love interior design to take part in the search.

One of the first accessories that you could search for is lighting, especially when it comes to the main living room. It is a great base to start with to help you decide what kind of style you want for the room. You may want a traditional style lamp, something glamorous featuring lots of crystals or even something with a bold pop of colour. There is a great mix of all of these types from Castlegate Lights. Whether you have opted for a neutral fitting or a colour the next step from here would be choosing wallpaper.

If you chose a bright red lamp shade in your living area then you may want to use this accent colour in the wallpaper to create a really stylish and modern look. If you are fortunate to have a large space to work with then you can make bolder choices by going for something more striking. If you are working with a smaller space opt for something with small hints of red, but with both options you can really bring out the colour through random home accessories such as photo frames, a clock, rugs and more. If you went for a shade of blue or a more calming colour then you can use it more often and be less afraid of adding in that extra bit of colour.

This leads to the final step of choosing all of these accessories. You don’t have to match everything perfectly, and it all doesn’t have to be the same one shade. Mix it up and have fun just choosing pieces you love and that reflect your personality. Make sure to choose photo frames and fill them with family photos and pick out fun cushions for the sofa. Make sure you get the family involved when picking items; it is great to have some input from everybody to truly reflect those living there.

This is one of the hardest things to get right. Organizing your colors so that they all work together and don’t clash with each is one of the hardest things to do, but if you get it right, then you will have a beautiful area!
