Last night I spent an inspiring evening at the Lustre 2014 Preview Event.
As you might recall, I’m very proud to be the official blogger for Lustre, the premier craft market for you and your home. Earlier this year, I sat on the selection panel, choosing makers and designers to show at the event, and it was wonderful to see lots of them in the flesh last night.
Split over two buildings at Lakeside Arts in Nottingham, the designer market is awash with fascinating, unique and unusual pieces. From an array of beautiful, contemporary jewellery, to creative ceramics and stylish textiles.
Makers are on hand to discuss their design and creative process, giving you a back story and insight into how pieces are crafted, drawing you in, really inspiring you.
The evening was spent with fellow bloggers Amanda from The Ana Mum Diary, Penny from A Residence and Catherine from Growing Family, wandering around feeling inspired and ready to do some shopping.
There was so much choice, and so much to choose from; Lustre really does provide something for everyone.
We were very taken with jewellery from Lucy Palmer, where narrative jewellery inspired by fairytales and folklore, is hand pierced in precious metals and layered to create a 3D effect.
And the ceramic designs from Carly Dodson, inspired by mid-20th century British design:
I loved the plywood boards from Dan Vangrove at Cirle 52. Each board is unique and beautifully crafted, ideal for serving breads, cheeses or cake. I bought a square board, and at just £20 it’s a great purchase and will be used constantly in our home.
I also treated myself to a lovely silver ring from one of the Young Meteors. This section of Lustre features up and coming talent, fresh Graduates handpicked to show their pieces at the market. Anya Miles‘ creations really caught my eye, and I’m thrilled with my purchase.
Lustre continues this weekend, open from 10am – 5pm on both Saturday and Sunday at Lakeside Arts, in Nottingham.
It’s just £5 to enter all weekend, so why not pop along and sort out some Christmas shopping. I know you’ll be thrilled that you did.
wow sounds amazing!
