Home Interior Winter Trends 16/17

So what can you expect from your interiors this Winter? What trends are we all moving towards as the days draw in the and the nights become darker? I’ve been working with Network Veka and we’ve created a Pinterest board that illustrates the trends beautifully. More about that later,  but here are some of my ideas for what’s looking hot this Winter.

Marble:

If you haven’t caught on with this one yet it’s still growing and will be everywhere this winter. Faux marble walls, marble accessories, lamps, serving boards, candle holders and so on. You probably either love it or hate it, but it’s going to hang around for a little while longer so might as well get used to it.

Add Texture:

If you love sitting by the window, don’t forget to update the space as winter approaches so you can still make the most of it. Change up the curtains for a heavier, warmer fabric and add some cosier cushions and throws, as well as a soft rug for warming your toes on a frosty evening. Sheepskins are still give news and we’ll be seeing plenty of them this winter.

Chunky Knits:

We all need a few throws and blankets in our life for the winter months and so this year think about introducing a chunky knit variety. The bigger the knit the better. If throws aren’t your thing though why not go for a chunky knit stool for a subtle accent in any room. Perfect for when unexpected guests need to perch or ideal as a spot to rest your weary feet.

Green:

Is green the new grey? Well maybe not quite but it’s pretty much getting there. The winter months are perfect for injecting some moody dark hues, and a glossy jewel like green will go a long way to fulfilling this brief. If you can’t bear it on all the walls just do a few, or pick it up in your accessories as an accent colour. I guarantee the more you live with it, the more you’ll love it.

Eclectic Styling:

The trend for mixing up your patterns and prints is being taken to a new level this season and this look is going to be big. Don’t worry about being all coordinated with your home decor, discovering your inner eclectic is definitely where it’s at. Having said that there is a knack to getting this right so start small and build up, but honestly this is one trend where you can really showcase your personality, so go for it.

So if you’re looking for more ideas and inspiration on how to decorate with trends this winter, do take a look at all the images I’ve put together on the Network Veka Winter Trends Pinterest board.
