Jubilee Inspired Afternoon Tea Anyone?

So the girls and I have been having a bit of fun in the kitchen and baking up a storm with a few products that we were sent to look over for our Jubilee theme at the moment.

We love to bake. I’ve been cooking with them since they were really small (it was incredibly hard dealing with the mess to begin with!) but they’ve always enjoyed it and still get very excited at the prospect of some baking.

For our Jubilee Afternoon tea we’ve baked up this fantastic Crown Cake using the Imperial mould by Lekue. Well I say fantastic of course, please don’t judge the end results, we’re not that arty! But I have to say I’m really impressed with the mould which is made of silicone and if you haven’t used silicone bakeware at all, I’d highly recommend giving it a go.

Here’s the official image of the mould –

And here’s what we’ve managed to produce –

Ok so it’s not elegant or pretty, but the girls had great fun decorating it and chose the ‘jewels’ and the ‘sparkle’ from our cooking cupboard especially. It’s great for some jubilee inspired baking ready for the big weekend itself. The mould was incredibly easy to use. I was very worried the cake wasn’t going to come out safely and break apart but it didn’t, there was no problem at all. What do you think of the end result?

The Lekue Queen Crown Mould is available from www.jwpltd.co.uk for £17.

And to go with your Jubilee cake after a tense session cooking with the children, you’ll need a good cup of tea. Well look at this fab little mug – cool and quirky, I love it.

The Crown Mug is available from www.w2products.com for £20. Treat yourself!

And finally, in our little Jubilee inspired afternoon tea you’re going to need a cake stand to display all those wonderful union jack cupcakes. Here’s one I’ve had from Eddingtons along with these cute union jack cake toppers.

Phew! We’ve had great fun using these products at home and we’re looking forward to using them again in a few weeks’ time for some Jubilee afternoon tea fun!

What will you be cooking up for the Jubilee Bank Holiday?

Disclosure: I was sent these products for the purposes of the review in this post. All comments and opinons are genuine and my own.

FAB!!! I love the end result – shame no one asked you to review cake boxes, so you could try it out by sending me a slice! I particularly love the mug – am very tempted to get it for my Mum who looks remarkably like the Queen, albeit a bit younger (she always makes a point of that!)!!!

I do love the mug too Miriam, let me know if you get it.
The cake, well we haven’t cut it yet, think that might be happening later on 😉

    Very very cool mug!
Love the idea of the cake mould as well, especially how you’ve decorated it, what a great idea. My girls would LOVE it.
