How To Keep Cool in Bed in a Heatwave

Sage Green Basic Bundle

A heatwave hits and it’s not easy to sleep.

We all have the problem of keeping cool in bed in a heatwave. Sleep eludes us.

We toss and turn, the fan keeps us awake, and we just can’t seem to get comfortable.

If, like me, you sleep in a converted loft space, the hot nights are even worse. The heat feels stifling, it feels suffocating. And there seems there’s nothing for it but to get up and go and sit outside.

I’ve done this on many a hot night.

So, can we keep cool in bed in a heatwave?

Well there’s no magic cure, but there are definitely things you can do to help yourself.

Let me introduce you to Piglet

Piglet create simple, high quality, low maintenance homewares. And what caught my eye was their range of durable linens. Particularly for the bed.

Blush Pink Linen Pyjama Shorts Set

Why Linen?

As well as being exceptionally soft, linen’s natural long fibres help to regulate your body temperature as you sleep with its breathability and high moisture absorbency.

It’s also perfectly weighted which helps to ease you into a wonderful deep sleep.

Linen is perfect for every season – fresh in the summer and warm in the winter.

And the more you wash it, the softer it gets.

Personally, I’m a fan of a crumpled linen look, so I would never iron it.

The more you sleep in it, the more crumpled, and better looking it gets.

The production of linen is very sustainable too.

Every part of the flax plant can be used. It is a rotation crop, farmed naturally in small batches.

Piglet’s linens are sourced in France and sewn in China. They are then package and shipped from their converted barn in West Sussex.

Piglet began in 2017 from a West Sussex garden shed with the belief that homes should be filled with high quality basics that are as cosy as they are beautiful.

The brand begain small with just linen duvet covers and pillowcases in a few calming colours but have since grown to include sleepwear, table linens, curtains and more.

All in beautiful, soft linen.

Charcoal Grey Bedtime Bundle

Now what I really love about this cool bedding is not just the material.

I also love the style and look of the product. The laid back natural feel of the colours and simple styling.

It’s welcoming, inviting and definitely appealing to a discerning home owner.

The range of colours has an all round appeal.

They are muted, warm and comfortable. They’re easy to integrate into your current decor. You won’t need a major overhaul just because you’ve bought some new bedding.

You can see from the images I’ve shared here that there’s something for everyone.

I’m a big fan of white bed linen and this one below has my full seal of approval. It’s crisp and fresh in its appearance but we know it’s going to be cosy and soft to sleep in.

And it’s going to keep us cool

This looks so gorgeous! I love linen too and it definitely keeps me cool. The grey is a lovely shade too – just perfect.
