I have a bit of a penchant for retro, mid-century design, pattern and print so I was thrilled when Cordello Home asked me if I would take a look at some of the products from their new Debut Collection.
The collection comprises of mugs, plates and tableware including placemats, coasters and napkins. It also contains a variety of patterns and colourways which I’ve chosen to mix and match in my images today.
Now I think I held onto some pretty strong willpower here, particularly when it came to the mugs. Mugs are a bit of a weakness; I have a huge collection, the cupboard overflows regularly much to the dismay of my husband. So with restraint I’ve chosen just two mugs. The Queen of Hearts in yellow and blue, and the Cross my Heart in the blue and purple. Both are beautiful bone china, not too thick and a good size without being too large. Mugs retail for £12.
The collections are designed to complement each other, and the Cordello Heart napkins pick out the purple in the mug, but also contrast with the yellow from the other items. The continuing heart theme, albeit in different patterns helps hang the pieces together and gives the look cohesion.
As I work from home most days, I do spend a lot of time brewing up a cuppa and so get good use from my mugs. I also love to share a coffee with family and friends and have a good collection of coasters too.
These Upside Down Heart Placemats and Coasters work seamlessly with my kitchen decor, echoing the contemporary / mid-century theme and will be used extensively at my breakfast bar. The are so easy to accessorise too with the yellow and grey trend still working its way into our homes frequently. Coasters sell at £16.50 and placemats at £30.
Do you like this idea of mixing and matching the pieces? From the website it might not always be clear that this can work, but I’ve loved giving this collection an eclectic twist; it helps showcase that the designs work together and offers something less formal and rigid. It’s a playful way to coordinate your crockery and tableware, and with the clever designs from Cordello Home it’s easier than you might think. Now with Valentine’s Day fast approaching, wouldn’t these make a lovely homely gift. Packed full of hearts, yet without being whimsical, they’re bound to please your design loving partner. Or if you plan to serve up dinner on Valentine’s evening, wouldn’t these pieces make a lovely setting at the dinner table?
For me, I’ll be enjoying my next afternoon cuppa courtesy of Cordello Home, and trying to find a little space in the mugs cupboard for my new additions.
If you want to find out more about the Cordello Home Debut Collection, you can do so HERE on their website, but beware of the throws, cushions and tray tables too; it’s all just a little bit tempting.
