There’s a new kind of home interiors search and comparison website on the scene so let me introduce you to Kuldea
If you’ve ever struggled to find the right piece of furniture, home accessories item or soft furnishing for your home, you’re not alone. We can all scour the internet for hours on end, fully jaded with seeing the same products time and time again. It’s hard to find exactly what you want – does it really exist you ask yourself – and how do you reach the smaller brands and suppliers when they aren’t coming up in your search engine results?
Well, that’s exactly the kind of problems a new type of website, Kuldea.com, will address.
Kuldea.com, is the UK’s first online search and comparison site dedicated solely to home furniture and furnishings.
It calls itself the Skyscanner of the home interiors world, and I just love this concept.
Kuldea allows you to search and be inspired by a unique depth of products, compare them across a vast amount of retailer partners and then when you’ve selected your furniture products you can save to collections, share & shop – all in one place.
Showcasing over 100,000 products, it enables shoppers to hunt for products all in one place.
Products are presented by room or furniture type, and a filter system allows the user to tailor by budget, size or colour.
Users can also ‘favourite’ products, set sale alerts on items of interest, share products with others, and build their own collections to help manage projects or simply compare styles and prices. When people are ready to buy, one click takes them directly to the product of their choice on the retailer’s website.
Founded by Irish/Australian couple Deirdre McGettrick and Ray Wright, the inspiration for Kuldea came from their struggle to find the furniture they wanted for their own apartment.
After months of searching, endlessly creating spreadsheets to keep track of the products they loved, they decided there had to be a better way.
As Deirdre recalls:
We found the experience very frustrating and disconnected. Working long hours, the last thing we wanted to do in the evenings was trawl websites to find the right sofa or bedside cabinet, especially as we kept having to repeatedly input the same search criteria on every furniture website we found.
Deirdre and Ray set about turning their conclusion into a business and felt it was a ‘cool idea’ which lead to the business being named “Kuldea”. They wanted the name to be distinctive and recognisable in the furniture and furnishings market.
Founder, Ray says,
It’s all about providing people with maximum choice and the ability to find the right product with ease and enjoyment.
New to the market this year, but growing rapidly, Kuldea aims to hold 300,000 products by the end of this month, and be partnering with over 100 retailers by the end of 2019. Watch this space, there are obviously big plans to grow this idea so I think we’ll be seeing a lot more of it over the coming months.
Currently you will find retailers such as Maisons du Monde, Darlings of Chelsea, Furniture Village, Lombok, Houseology and many more partnered with Kuldea.
There are some big names as well as smaller brands like Curious Egg and Cuckooland, offering a great variety of products to help you in the hunt to create your perfect home.
I can’t wait to see who else they partner up with and how this idea develops. What a great way for retailers to be found, and for us home lovers to find great products. I’d love to see some categories via style and ‘look’ too; wouldn’t that be a great way to identify products easily. And even some kind of tool to help us decide what kind of style and products we need.
