The Triumphal Arch

Billed as a “distinctive cottage where you’ll be the envy of the Holkham Estate visitor” this is a luxurious couples retreat which is tempting me to pack the kids away and enjoy some adult time with the husband.

The Triumphal Arch was designed by the renowned architect, William Kent, to impress travellers passing through to the North Norfolk coast.

With a kitchen and cloakroom on the ground floor, the spiral stairway takes you up to the shower room and loo, then at the very top of the stairs you are greeted with this…

South Lodge dates back to 1847 and was designed by well-known architect, S. S. Teulon. After some years of disrepair, the lodge has been restored and once again stands as sentinel to Holkham Hall and The Triumphal Arch on the Holkham Estate.

All accommodation is on one level with the lounge part of an open plan sitting area with the kitchen. I love the beautiful, rustic colours, comfortable cosy interiors and, of course, the wood burning fire.

The double bedroom leads is the perfect size for a couple and this whole Holkham Estate cottage is ideal for a cosy, stylish retreat away from the hustle and bustle of busy life.

Palmers Folly

Another glorious couples retreat tucked away in the woodland – a fabulous Holkham Estate cottage.

The Folly is a Grade ll listed gatehouse with comfortable furnishings and tasteful décor. Quite the exclusive couples retreat, and you can even bring your four-legged friends for company.

Palmers Lodge
