A custom size bed. Have you ever considered one?
In fact do you even know they existed?
You might be interested to hear that choosing a bed made specifically for you can really improve your health.
We all know getting a good night’s sleep can be really important to our wellbeing.
In this article, I’ll explain more about a custom sized bed and why you might be needing one in your bedroom.
What is a Custom Size Bed?
Well, I guess it’s pretty self explanatory but a custom size bed is one that is outside the normal parameters of the usual UK bed size.
It could be that you have a particular room size that needs the right kind of bed.
You might have an awkward space to fit your bed into – when only a custom size bed will work. You might need custom size bed for a box room for example.
Or perhaps you are a particular height or zize and want a more comfortable night’s sleep.
Whatever the reason, there are companies like Bed Guru that can create a custom size bed for you.
And the beauty of it is, they’re not always bespoke making them more cost effective. You just choose your bed style and then select from a whole range of sizes that could suit you and your home.
How Your Bed Can Affect Your Health
So there are a few ways that the wrong bed can affect your health.
Of course the obvious one is about poor sleep.
If your bed is uncomfortable for you, perhaps because of your height, then it can cause continuous poor sleep.
Apparently if you need to twist and turn a lot in your bed, it’s not because you’re fussy or a messy sleeper, it’s most likely because your bed is not suited to you.
The ideal mattress, for example, will be one that allows you to sleep comfortably on your back, side or front without waking in pain.
We all know that a good night’s sleep has us fighting fit. We feel mentally able to face the stresses of the day, have more energy and feel alert and bright.
A constant lack of sleep can be torturous. And weaken the immune system making us more susceptible to illness and viruses.
It’s all been found that a lack of sleep can make us age prematurely.
In a clinical study commissioned by Estee Lauder, it was found that poor sleepers had increased signs of skin aging and slower recovery from a variety of environmental stressors.
Poor sleepers also had worse assessment of their own skin and facial appearance.
Sleep deprived women show signs of premature skin ageing and a decrease in their skin’s ability to recover after sun exposure.
I think that’s a good reason to sort out your bed and make sure you get a good night’s sleep, don’t you?
Who Needs a Custom Size Bed?
Let’s consider whether you need to invest in a custom size bed for your home.
If you’re over average height and find your feet constantly hanging off the end of a bed, then you could be perfect for buying a longer custom sized bed.
Equally, smaller people need less space and with the right sized bed, would free up space in the bedroom, using it for other storage and bedroom decor pieces.
You’ll also find a special bed size useful if you live in a quirky property. Smaller cottages for example often have unique room shapes, ones that lend themselves perfectly to a unique bed.
Many of us have a box room in our homes, one where the youngest child sleeps, and it’s not always suitable for a full sized bed. Equally, you’ll want lots of extra storage for toys and books, so a custom size bed with inbuilt storage could be just the thing.
Other rooms which spring to mind that often need special furniture is a converted loft room. Get the size and shape of the bed right and the rest of the room design falls into place.
