Hot New Sofa Trends 2017
If you’re making plans to update your home this year, are you checking out the hot new sofa trends 2017?
I know I’ve been busy making notes about the rooms I want to decorate over the next few months, which might even include a kitchen renovation (better start saving) and so I’m thinking about the looks and trends I might like to adopt.
For me, sofas can make or break the look of the living space. Whether you’re in your main lounge, an open plan living/dining space, a bedroom, den or playroom, a sofa can really set the scene and offer some incredible wow factor to any scheme. My lovely chocolate brown mid-century styled leather sofas are probably old hat now, but there’s years of life left in them now, and I still absolutely love them so they’re not going anywhere soon.
I’d be quite happy to change the sofa in our dining room/den but the OH still likes it A LOT so I guess that one will have to stay put too. Well for now anyway!
Hot New Sofa Trends 2017
So how about checking out some of my favourite sofa looks for 2017. The images accompanying my choices are kindly provided by Darlings of Chelsea, the designer sofa brand, which specialises in luxury, hand-crafted sofas.
Velvet

I can’t tell you home much I’m in love with all velvet interiors and accessories at the moment. I may have just snuck in a few new velvet cushions (more on that in an upcoming post) and they are diving. So how about treating yourself to a beautiful new velvet sofa?
It’s decadent, luxurious and packed full of texture. Combine it with a bang on trend deep rich green or blue and you have yourself the perfect sofa for 2017.
Whilst the chesterfield style might feel old fashioned, it’s been brought bang up to date here with the use of this fabric and indeed, the colour.
If a chesterfield style isn’t your thing though, how about something more contemporary. Just look at those seat cushions. You can just feel the softness can’t you. When you mix something this beautiful into your room, keep everything else quite simple and pared back to allow the design and colour to really pop.
Patterned
To be honest, I think you’ll either love this one or very much hate it. Patterned sofas and chairs have been gaining momentum over the last couple of years and have definitely taken their place in the market. And they make a remarkable statement in any room. It’s up to you how you dress it. My own preference would be to keep everything else simple. Plain cushions and throws and then a backdrop that really allows the pattern to shine. I wouldn’t want anything else to compete too much with its vibrancy.
Pastels
Another trend that’s really taken its place in the last few years, is the use of pastels in our home interiors. And now its made its way into sofas which is why I had to include it in the new sofa trends 2017. Subtle, charming and wonderfully elegant, a pastel sofa or chair will really bring a little sophistication into your living room. This wasn’t a trend I liked at all about a year ago, but these softer colours have really grown on me, particularly when paired up with metallics and plenty of greenery.

Love Seats
Well, ok I might be pushing the whole ‘new trend’ thing a little with a love seat. After all, they’ve been around for ages, years in fact. But look at this little beauty. In velvet. Oh my. If you have the space, pop this in a bay window and the chair will do the rest for you.

A ‘love seat’ is on my list for 2017 – to snuggle up on with my daughter when we’re having a greedy reading marathon on a rainy Sunday.
The emerald green sofa is just immense!
Where can I find the dark blue velvet sofa second pic…I’m in love!
