10 Easy Bedroom Storage Solutions

One of the main things we’re all doing right now is decluttering. Am I right? With the start of a new year, comes the need to clear out the junk and give our homes a fresh and clean start. The Christmas decorations are going away, you’ve found a home for all the new gifts but now you just want to everything to feel ordered and organised. One of the best places to start, and sometimes one room that needs extra storage is the bedroom. So to start the year of in the right way, I’ve pulled together 10 of the easiest ways you can update the storage solutions in your bedroom, helping you sift through the junk, and create the relaxing haven you really need.

#1 Laundry

Don’t leave piles of dirty clothes about the place, invest in one or two attractive laundry baskets or bags. Better still move this into the bathroom if you have room. There are lots of great solutions on the high street and online so do your research and find something that suits your decor.

Lots of ideas and inspirations for clever bedroom storage, from shoe storage to laundry, to making the most of bed space, under the bed and in it. Click through to find out more. I saw a great article the other day saying how bedside tables don’t need to match. I do love this idea, as well as how the right choice can give you so much extra storage for your personal items, books, medicines and more.

#3 Shoe Storage

It’s a fact. But how many have really good storage for them? Probably not enough. So let’s sort this out. You need to take care of your shoes and box them up if you can, labelling the boxes accordingly. Places like IKEA and Argos have great, inexpensive shoe storage that you can stack to ensure your purchases stay in tip top condition. Alternatively make a feature of them and store on open shelving with all your other accessories.

#4 Under the Bed

Usually we don’t make enough of the space under our bed. (Unless you are my 12 year old daughter!). Get some large, low boxes, ensure they are labelled and fill them with out of season clothes, bedding, towels or pretty much anything you don’t need regular, daily access to. Even better put the boxes on wheels for really easy access.

#5 Ottoman Beds

If you have one of these you’ll know how useful they can be. Simply lift up the mattress base with an easy mechanism and discover a whole world of storage you never had before.

#6 Feature Storage

So storage doesn’t have to be boring and ugly. Make a statement with your storage solutions, make them part of your room decor – there are so many incredibly stylish solutions out there for you, just do some digging around to find what’s right for you.

#7 Storage Bags

I use these and they are life savers. I’m talking about those plastic bags that you fill with your out of season clothes, then suck the air from with a vacuum. I love them. I use 3 or 4 and rotate my winter and summer clothes because I don’t have enough room in the wardrobe. It’s also a great way to declutter your clothes too.

#8 Wardrobe Boxes

You know that dead space on the tops of your wardrobes? Well why not use it for storage. Buy yourself some attractive boxes, fill them up (not with anything too heavy) and pop them up there. Probably best to use them for items you won’t need access to that often.

#9 Shelving

A really easy way to add some storage to the bedroom is with some shelving. Whether you go for shelves on the wall, a ladder shelf unit or a simple bookcase, this is an easy way to store books but also to show off your decorative accessories boosting your decor and colour scheme.

#10 Beauty Storage

This is something I’ve been thinking about a lot recently. Us girls need good storage for beauty accessories, make up brushes, lipsticks and more. Don’t ram them in bags in drawers like I do, make a feature of them on a dressing table or chest of drawers with purpose made storage. Alternatively when your candles have run out, clean out the empty wax and use the pots to store your brushes.
