So with Halloween out of the way, all attention turn to Christmas (well in the UK anyway) and if you want to get your home ready, follow my ultimate Christmas Cleaning Checklist!
Packed full of tips, tricks and planning to help you get through the cleaning as speedily as possible allowing yourself extra time to sit back and relax with a Baileys in hand.
With just over 50 days to go until Christmas, it’s time to start thinking about preparing the house for the onslaught of guests, food and visitors.
So let’s take a look at how we can get the house in top top condition in time for the festivities.
Ultimate Christmas Cleaning Checklist:
Getting Started a Month Before:
The first thing to tackle is the living room. Give it a good deep clean BEFORE you put up the decorations – it’s always harder to clean once the baubles are hung on the tree. It’s a good opportunity to move the bigger items of furniture, declutter behind the sofa and even give the carpet a deep clean.
Next up on the Christmas Cleaning checklist think about the guest rooms. If you’re expecting overnight visitors you’ll need to clean up the spare rooms. If it’s still a few weeks to go, leave the bedding for now, but clear away anything you store in the room, clean under the bed and give everything a really good dust.
Closer to the Big Day:
It’s always a good idea to give the kitchen a deep clean and that includes clearing out the fridge and freezer, plus cleaning the oven. You can always get in a professional company to do this – some travel in vans – if it’s not your thing. Arranging for a cleaning company to come and deep clean the kitchen, in fact the whole house, is not a bad idea if time is short.
Kitchen cupboards always benefit from a declutter and reorganisation at this time of year and you might even need to hunt out the stored tableware from the attic, particularly if you’re hosting a large Christmas event. Preparing in advance like this will save you lots of stress and anxiety when the actual holidays arrive.
The Week Before:
Now it’s time to really make those bathrooms sparkle. You’re heading towards the end of the Christmas cleaning checklist now, so just before your guests are due, scrub the bathrooms, put out extra towels (and don’t forget the additional loo rolls too!).
The Day Before:
If you’ve followed the Christmas cleaning checklist and taken time to do all the other tasks in the month/weeks prior to the holidays, all you should need to do is a quick vacuum, plump up the cushions and light those Christmas candles.
Now if all else fails, your too busy or this kind of things really gets you down, get in a cleaning company – one that specialises in end of tenancy cleaning is a good idea to really give your home a deep clean before the holidays. That way you can really sit back and relax when Christmas arrives.
