I know we are still in the throws of a summer heatwave and talk of the Autumn seems totally out of place, but in a few weeks the weather will cool, we’ll dig out our ankle boots and start embracing the cooler days. (Now it’s at this point you can thank me for not bombarding you with Christmas in July posts – yes, that’s a thing!)
On a more serious note, I’m thrilled to be chosen as an ambassador for interiors emporium Amara Living to help showcase one of their new collections this Autumn.
Welcome to the Midnight Garden Collection from A by Amara for AW18.
I’m going to kick off by giving you a 3D tour of how it looks in my living room. I would love to know what you think of the colour palette in particular.
As you can see, Midnight Garden is a collection of home interiors offering rich, deep hues and luxurious finishes.
It must have been a good omen when a friend knocked on my door the night before I styled and shot these images with a hand picked bunch of sweet peas from her garden, in exactly the right colours to complement the range.
Now of course you don’t need to style the pieces like this. You could just take one or two accessories and add them to your current decor, place a few candle holders on the dining table or pop a vase on a kitchen windowsill. The choice is all yours.
I like to style in a fairly uncluttered form, adding symmetry and balance to the displays.
I’ve veered away from styling in 3’s or 5’s this time, which is often the done thing, and gone more for mixing textures and heights, adding more impact and allowing the pieces to make their mark.
Let’s talk about the purple. It’s not a colour I’ve touched much since the late 1990s when Laurence Llewellyn-Bowen convinced us that it was the colour of the moment and we painted every wall in every shade of lilac we could find.
I think I had my fill.
But now it’s back with a vengeance. Pantone has named Ultra Violet as the Colour of the Year and it seems that the announcement is filtering through to our home interiors.
I can certainly see its appeal in this collection. Married with the bold designs, the variety of texture and the injection of metallic finishes, the purple sits easily with my dark decor and complements my love of yellow beautifully.
I am completely blown away by it.
As for my favourite pieces, well it’s hard to choose.
The Agate table is a definite crowd-pleaser. It’s solid and heavy, yet neat enough to sit inconspicuously at the end of the sofa and large enough to hold a small display, some flowers and your coffee cup.
I chose a myriad of vases for my photo shoot and fell in love with them all (I’m a big vase hoarder). The gold drip vases (below) really did catch my eye though, as did the smaller round ripple vase styled on the mantle.
I’m sure you’ll agree it’s a rich, vivid look which perfectly epitomises the warmth and comfort of winter. The deep tones and opulent finish are reminiscent of cosy night’s in beside a roaring fire. Yet, I’m happy to say it’s still possible to pull out several pieces and use them successfully against different decor styles.
To me, it’s this factor that gives a new collection its appeal. After all, very few of us will go and purchase multiple items from a new range but instead, want to update our homes with the latest trends little by little.
The Midnight Garden collection from A by Amara allows the home lover to do exactly that.
