110 Essential Household Items List for a New Home

When I moved into my first home, over 30 years ago, I remember gathering items together from family and friends, from thrift and charity stores and from my student days. Nothing matched, many items were years old, and I made do with the household items I could find.

What would have made the job a lot easier was having a comprehensive list of all the household items I needed, instead of spending nights making lists and wondering if I’d forgotten something.

So that’s why I’ve created this list of essential household items. Some you may not want of course, but at least you can decide. You can also decide the styles, look and themes of the items you choose – everyone wants their new home to look great and be a reflection of who they are.

I suggest scouring through the full list at the top of the post, then work your way through the useful and essential short lists, and go room by room to identify what pieces you need.
