Find Your Perfect Holiday Home #6: Knipefold Barn, Lake District

So the UK holiday season is well and truly underway (in fact I’m off on my holidays myself very soon) and you may even been looking for inspiration for your next trip. I know the first thing I want to do when I return home from a holiday is book the next one. Do you ever feel like that?

Today’s post is the 6th in a series of articles helping you find your perfect holiday home right here in the UK. For the last decade I’ve been sourcing gorgeous homes for my family all over the UK, so we can experience amazing holidays together and make lifelong memories. In that time I’ve discovered exactly how to seek out the ideal holiday home, one that looks stylish, meets my family’s needs and puts us in great locations. So read on if you’re looking for your next holiday inspiration.

This months featured property is Knipefold Barn from Good Life Lake District Cottages

I absolutely adore a barn conversion and that’s why I’m thrilled to be showcasing this gorgeous property in the Lake District for your next family trip. I’ve been to the Lakes several times on holiday and know first hand what a great experience it is. The beautiful home is a stunning conversion located near Hawkshead, in the hamlet of Knipefold. Apart from the authentic building, the other draw for me has to be the incredible location. Secluded and peaceful, this barn offers miles of views towards the Hawkshead fells and surrounding countryside.

Location:

As a city dweller I’m ecstatic when I find a beautiful holiday home that offers a taste of country living. I’m always looking for space, open air and views in my booking, and Knipefold Barn has this in bucket loads. So let’s dig in and let me show you around.

Accommodation:

The barn was converted in 2007 into a holiday home sleeping 5 people. It’s an ‘upside down’ property (I love these!) with a single bedroom and utility area on the ground floor , leading up to the first floor with the 2 double bedrooms, and finally the big open-plan living space on the top floor.

Bedrooms:

The whole house is tastefully decorated and furnished, allowing the barn features to shine and giving a traditional, comfortable and practical feel to the whole space. The single bedroom on the ground floor is perfect for an older child, or older relative perhaps, then the two double bedrooms are on the first floor. One has a super-king size bed and en-suite bathroom whilst the other is a king with en-suite shower room. Who doesn’t love a cottage bathroom with big oak doors and beautiful beams?

Living Space:

The top floor houses the stunning open-plan living space with polished oak floors and beamed ceilings with skylights. The Stressless leather furniture is designed to make your stay super comfortable and help you fully enjoy the wonderful views. On and don’t forget the log fire.

Kitchen:

The kitchen is well designed and contains everything you’ll need for your stay. An Aga is installed for traditional cooking, a dishwasher for convenience and even a coffee maker for great breakfasts. With a separate dining table and breakfast bar, this really is a home from home.

Outdoors:

The pretty gardens and incredible views make this holiday home the perfect location. Nothing comes down the country lane unless it is lost and the usual passing traffic comes from tractors and horses. It’s a beautiful, idyllic spot yet only 10 miles from Coniston lake and all that you can find there.

Note only children over 10 are accepted at this property so it’s a holiday for those with older children. Now mine are bigger, they much prefer their own rooms so this would be the ideal space for our family of 4.
